Childhood Memories

Today's Blog is a Blog about great Childhood Memories that i wanted to share with you.

Just a few that spring to mind are....

Going to my Grandads for dinner in Richmond and him making such yummy dinners then always making meranges for pudding but always adding a few drops of raspberry food colouring to the cream to make them even more appealing for us kiddies
& Going out to Rabbit Island and relaxing in the sun as a family.
Or playing in Grandads Aviary looking at all the different types of birds were in there.

Going to Daelyns to pick fresh fruit with Mum whether it was fresh corn Cobb's then having them fresh with melted butter and lots of salt for lunch.

Or picking fresh Raspberry's and Strawberry's and Boysenberries in our ice cream containers and then getting a real fruit ice cream at the end of the outing.

On one particular day whilst picking Boysenberries i remember wondering off to find my own berries wearing a white dress i decided to lift the bottom of my dress and use it as a basket to collect the berries in..
Much to mums disgust it was badly stained.
We would always cram as much into our mouths whilst picking at the same time.

Another memory i have is going over the hill to Dads in Rai Valley and him having baby Lambs that mothers had either died or abandoned them and having to be little mummies to the lambs insuring they had there milk each day in there bottles with teats.

This brings about another memory now of travelling down to Nana and Grandads
As we were heading down the hill into Duncan's Bay there was a Goat that had been killed and its wee baby was left abandoned on the side of the road bleating away.
We stopped the car and decided to take the Kid home.
I sat the Kid on my knee and it became instantly attached to me and from then on thought i was its mummy.
Bleating if it was left outside without me...
This Kid would go everywhere with me and i would feed it and be a real little mummy to that as well.
It was tricky when the school holidays ended and was time to go home and leave it but Nana got it settled and eventually it went and lived in Rai with my Aunty and Unlce.

There lots of memories had down at my Nana and Grandads whether walking to Pippies Beach to go for a swim. Or hooning around the whole bay on the Nifty Fifty & having a few accidents in the process of learning...
Playing pool down there & always heading down there for Xmas day where we would have the biggest lunch with usually 5 desert options.
Going out in the boat fishing...

Lots of fishing done as a child we would go out on the boat with Dad to work each day in the holidays leaving early hours of the mornings and sleeping in the car on the way over to the bay..
Then spend the day fishing our little hearts out..
we oddly would catch Rig and cut them open take there baby's out and put them in jars in methylated spirits.
Or dive off the wharf and swim right underneath the boat from one side to the other.
Or having mussel boys and dad tying them up making swings or us pretending they were horses.

Another Memory is always being close to my sister and we would always play on the front lawn pretending to be at gymnastics and set our ghetto blasters up and make up routines or having our roller skates and going up and down the drive as fast as we could all the while being pro skaters with an audience cheering on.

As a kid at then end of Primary School i remember always playing Teachers and having my class (dolls & Teddy's) sit on the mat whilst i read a story.
And being so grown up i would pretend to be smoking with my pack of...." i forget there name those lollies that looked like smokes in the little blue box with a yellow spaceship on the front"

What about playing Pop Bang Go at lunchtimes on the grass with the girls.
Now that was fun, Or elastics or 4 Square and then came the Marbles....

I could go on for days about my fond Memories as a child but the key to this Blog is.....

Lets not forget the good times and all those special irreplaceable memories and always strive to create good memories for the future....
