Ya Dummy

Why is there such debate over Dummy's/Pacifiers????

Before i had a child i always looked at children with dummy's and to be honest thought they were just awful and so unsightly.

And when my baby arrived i was sure i was definitely not going to use a dummy with her.

After Aaliyah was sick in New Zealand for 4weeks really bad with a sore throat as well, i was desperate for anything to fix her she was 4months old.

I trotted off to the Dr thinking a course of antibiotics would be the order of the day but once i got to the Dr's and he had checked her over i was told that in fact the best thing for me to try was to give her a dummy for awhile until she got better at least as she was so sick and had been crying so so much that he explained as her throat was so sore the more she was crying the more she was hurting her throat and making it worse.

So i figured alright I'll give it a go and within a week she became really attached to it.
I noticed with her having the Dummy she was much more settled and slept a lot better as well.

She now has the dummy when she is in the car as in Australia it takes such a long time to get anywhere so is a great way of making a baby feel more safe and settled.
She also has the dummy at bed times and also when she is flying as it helps with ear pressure and helps prevent her ears getting sore.(They are a life saver when flying i tell you now...)
Aaliyah has been on over 20 planes since she was born so we have clocked up a lot of flying mileage to no he he...

So my thoughts have changed i think if that's what Aaliyah wants and its a way of making her feel safe and settled within herself then who am i to force her to give it up?....
There will come a time where she will decide she doesn't need it anymore and after doing some research i have found that pushing the fact of throwing them away just isn't my best option.

It is strange to me how everyone has there own opinion in regards to whether they wreck your teeth and if they think that yes they do ruin your teeth at what age this actually happens .
Its quite funny actually as i went to the hospital to speak to the Dr there about the damage they can cause etc and she told me there is no risk of dental damage until age 5, then on the contrary i was just reading the little treasures book and they state dummy's can damage teeth at age 2.

So everyone has there own opinion about the issue i also was told from the Dr i sore in NZ that it doesn't affect there teeth until there baby teeth fall out which is between age 5 and 7 and that its only a risk not something that happens to all children.

So my question to you is why do you we judge so quickly without really knowing the answers to things???

Everyone is guilty of this

At the end of the day it comes down to the individual and what works best for them
