The Big Move

In march We decided the time was right and we were told about the perfect opportunity for Hayden to get into the Mining industry. We had been trying previously but its a hard shell to crack for someone with no experience in that area .

Hayden is such a dedicated worker and puts his all into his work,He loved working at Conroys in Queensland but the hours were to long to be able to enjoy quality family time.

So hearing of this opportunity of work in South Australia came as a refreshing chance to experience another part of Australia.

So the fun begun...

We sent our belongings by Rail and dropped the doggies off at Dolittles pet retreat for a week before they were to fly to Adelaide. We just couldn't take them in the car,Poor wee Paddington gets so very car sick and was sick twice in the car just on the way to the pet retreat,Set amongst the bush lands high up in the hills in Blacksoil town.

We travelled down over 6days and saw some of the most amazing countryside. The long straight road (it was like a endless straight most of the way to Adelaide and quite a unreal thing to do).We stopped along the way at places Coffs Harbour,Tamworth, Cobar,Broken Hill and Adelaide.

Our daughter Aaliyah was a treasure and was so well behaved it was wonderful i was able to sit back relax and enjoy the sights. We saw some wonderful wildlife along the way and the scenery was so picturesque.

Day 6 we travelled down to our new home Roxby Downs. On the way down a huge storm came in and belted so much water across the road and the wind was terrible the expected 5hour drive turned into 6.5 and i kid you not it was the most scary experience of my life. The heavy rain brought so many kangaroos out onto the road and trust me you don't see them coming they just jump straight into the road then bounce off again. It was also dark so this teamed with heavy rain that the windscreen wipers had no chance of keeping up with made it a terrible ride.We had to be so careful as there is also Cows,Emus and Sheep that cross the roads in the desert and there is no fencing it is terribly dangerous.W e then got to huge flooding all over the road which made things more difficult the roads were in some places actually washed away.

I was thinking to myself "I'm a city girl there is just no way i can deal with this i mean come on this is a living nightmare".!!!!

Finally we arrive to our new home (Roxby Downs) to a new home in the dark with no idea where lights switches are and to find half our driveway was washed away from the flooding and our fire place inside was leaking all over the floor.
What a way to start a new life in Roxby.......................................
