New surroundings

After my initial experience with Roxby Downs after living here for 3 months now i have found out it is actually a neat wee place.
The people are super friendly and really go out of there way to talk to you and so polite if you are ever standing at the side of the road waiting to cross everyone i mean everyone just stops there cars to let you cross. Its the littlest things in life that mean the most.
We are very lucky to have made friends with our neighbour he has taken Hayden under his wing and been so helpful with any problems or questions we need answered. They are to of the same pod for example for those of you who no Hayden every time someone rings our phone he cant help but make a prank of the call.No matter how many times i have tried to tell him "Hayden that could be your work calling or about a job" He doesn't care he just gets a kick out of it.So today I'm busy making Apple crumble and the phone rings Its a Chinese man asking for Hayden & asking questions okkk Thanx Pudd your as bloody bad as Hayden.hence why i say to peas from the same pod. They have same personality's.
Its really neat that Hayden has been able to get out more and socialize with blokes and do what Pudd says "dick things".
I on the other hand am finding living in such a remote area sometimes quite hard,Hey i have nothing to hide this is what my blog is about being completely honest.
I struggle to find things that i have in common with the women here, seriously i really do. I enjoy socialising which does include drinking and getting a little loose on occasions but of all the women i have met they are just not into the same things. And saying this does sound really quite silly but it is really hard. Most people here are either locals or from the riverlands (another remote area) So i guess have a different lifestyle to what i am accustomed to.
So i do struggle to find things to talk about and you can only talk about your children for so long and i may not come across it but i am actually very shy with meeting new people.
On the plus side they do have fantastic things here for children i really couldn't ask for more,We have story time at the library and a nippy gym also mums morning coffee group a mothers walking prams group and 2x playgroups.Which i attend almost most of these but i struggle to have things in common with other mothers here.
I hate to sound negative but that's where I'm at!
I have met two lovely Indonesian women who i have learned a lot from but they have a different lifestyle as well.
One of the mothers wears the scarf thing over her head always which is something i haven't really been around before that must be so uncomfy mustn't it???..But my gosh she has some beautiful head scarfs i tell ya.
Roxby is also really cold i have gotten so used to the warm climate of Queensland that coming here is a eye opener could i ever go back to a Nz winter???
Its is really freezing here but no frosts.
The place is really pretty though and i do enjoy the opportunity to experience a different lifestyle.
I do struggle some days but hey i am only human and we are still settling in.
On the positive i have started getting back into crafty things which i love and have started my very own vegie garden.I currently have Broccoli,Celery,Spinach, carrots and Strawberry's growing and it gives you a good feeling growing your own fresh produce.
I have big Sunflowers growing that Aaliyah is enjoying watching to grow,She comes out to help mum in the garden but always ends up with a mouthful of dirt and bark Yummy.
Its all part of being a kid though aye..
I really miss the beach and grass though so i do miss Queensland and also i miss one of my good friends there Katie and her family,They were so kind to me and really made me feel like apart of there family such nice people.
I will however endeavour to try a bit harder and not give up i will keep going to these playgroups etc and hope to find someone with common interest.
Life is all about new challenges
